How Not To Lose Your Blog And All It’s Files Forever
This is my first post on this blog. I’ve decided to start with D9 Hosting. I have been with D9 since 2009 or thereabouts and pay my fees quarterly. However, on occassion I didn’t have enough funds in my account.I would message to let them know funds would be available on the 15th of the month. D9 were happy for that to happen, and on the due date they would get their payment. Then the inevitable happened, I lost my website, gone forever. Contacted D9….
Me:
Hi,
Happy New Year to you all, Hope that you enjoyed the festive season.
I am wondering what happened to my website. I paid the fee but looks likes site doesn’t exist. Something I need to do maybe. Thanks.
Regards
Donald

Hello Donald,
Upon checking there are no files in the public_html folder. Please upload your website files into the public_html directory and try loading the webpage again.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Hi Praveen,
I should have contacted earlier, website files have gone and I don’t have a clue what’s happening. It was to do with late with payment, didn’t think it would come to this. I thought you would have a back up.
Another problem I have is I can’t log in to Filezilla. Appreciate some help.
Thanks
Regards
Donald

Hi,
I’ve checked the backup availability of ebookmall.co.uk. The available backup was taken on January 30 and it doesn’t contain any files in home directory. Do you have any local backup? if so please upload it to your webspace.
Please use cpanel login details to FTP to the server.

host: ebookmall.co.uk

password : cpanel password.

If you forgot the cPanel password you can reset it from the client area.
Login to client area >> My Products & Services >> Click your product >> On left pane you can see change password link.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

D9 Hosting Technical Support
Hi Donald
Many thanks for you email
I can see the your account was suspended last year due to non payment but we do send you loads of emails both before an invoice is due and after it’s overdue. If our system doesn’t receive payment it suspends an account after a few days. If payment still isnt received it deletes all the data from the server. Unfortunately we cannot store data for clients without payment. A bit like a bricks and mortar storage facility…..if you don’t pay, your stuff is removed.
Our servers are backed up daily but, per our terms and conditions, should not be used in place of your own regular backups.
As your account was due on 9th November but you didnt pay till a few weeks later our system first suspended and then after no response to several emails, closed the acccount. Of course when we received your payment we created a webspace account for you again ready for you to upload from your backup
I am truly sorry that you didn’t keep backups of your data, we always strongly advise clients to do this. Similarly we would always advise not to ignore invoices, reminders etc as non payment can lead to disruption of services and worse.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
Kind Regards,
Paula Brett
All that bother could have been prevented. If I had paid the bill on time. The payment date was not for me and could not be changed, so it was paid 5 days later.
On this occassion I chose to ignore the emails until it was too late. The website was lost and no files. Another lesson is to back up your files regularly which I will be doing.
